Reinventing for Motherhood Beautifully with Cherie Buziak

FROM A CONVERSATION WITH CHERIE BUZIAK ON THE REINVENT YOURSELF PODCAST

The Covey

Cherie Buziak had a cosmetology and aesthetician license plus a BA from Fashion Institute of Technology, and managed global product development for Avon. Then she lost both her parents when she was 36, “which left a legacy for me and my siblings,” she says. For 14 years she “struggled with infertility” and found herself in “a great position to become pregnant.” She went to her supervisor and HR and told them she “wanted the company to know, I don’t need another position. I’d be happy to leave with a package.” After the birth of her son at 44, she “took the leap and became a consultant”, eventually opening BeautyEdge, LLC “to help brands launch from concept to product.” Now she had both a new company and an infant. “I had no mom to ask, what do I do,” she says. “My girlfriends pulled me through.”

What Cherie Appreciates about Being an Older Mom:
What I appreciate so much is that, being an older mom, I got all of the travel, you know, the business trips, the great restaurants all the big celebrations, I already had that out of my system. So as my colleagues or younger colleagues were attending those, I’d think, “Oh I know where you’re going. You’re gonna have a great time, and I’m here with my son.” So I really was happy that I got that all out of the way, that I had a lot of my local travel experience behind me. Not that I won’t travel again, and hopefully my son will be travelling globally once things open up again, but I’m settled for now.

    Hi Cherie

You probably don’t remember me but we worked together at Dr. Sadicks office in NYC. I was an aesthetician. And I truly enjoyed my time working alongside of you.

I loved reading your story and how you became so independent and successful and fulfilling your dreams of motherhood.

Hopefully one day we can connect and share some similar stories pertaining to the beauty industry.

Thank you for sharing your life story.
