She’s an active duty army officer and holds Ph.D. & Masters Degree in sociology from Duke focusing on status and morality. She has 12 years prior service, earning the rank of SFC prior to commissioning in 2007. She has written for numerous publications including the New York Times and has been featured in Esquire Magazine as an American of the Year in 2012.
