There’s no better time than NOW to feel confident in your clothes in a well-balanced body. We’ve enlisted fashion and fitness expert Mindy Solkin to give you a summer boost by achieving a fashion style that works for you. Plus a quick exercise routine that you can do anywhere, at any time, and with little or no equipment. Solkin is the creator of BB Babes, where fashion, fitness, and health combine for Baby Boomer women. In this class you’ll discover two of the eight essential categories for creating a wardrobe for your body, along with the do’s and don’t’s for your apparel selection. Then get ready for the 10-10-10 Balance Challenge for fall prevention and better balance, posture, and strength. This amazing fitness method includes 10 exercises – which only take 10 minutes per day – that you do for 10 days. Once you achieve your baseline level, you move on to the next level for the next 10 days and so on. Coach Mindy created the method when she coached thousands of runners for marathons. But you need not be a runner to attain poetry-in-motion too!

Born and raised in Philadelphia, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Fashion Design from Drexel University. After 12 years of designing apparel for various companies, as well as creating a cocktail dress line called The Fantasy Studio, she moved to New York City where she embarked upon a totally new career as a professional running coach and certified personal trainer. As Coach Mindy, she founded The Running Center in Manhattan, where she coached thousands of people to fulfill their dreams of running from one mile to the marathon. As a competitive runner herself, she ran six marathons and won age-group awards in distances from 5K to the half-marathon. For 17 years, she created and led a fitness walking program at the American Museum of Natural History. After 25 years in NYC, she returned to Philly in 2016 to re-kindle her fashion career. From 2018 to just recently, she was the personal stylist at Macy’s in Center City Philadelphia. As the personal shopper in the store, she used her fitness background to select the proper clothing for her clients, to enhance their body image and improve their self-esteem. As a former bridalwear designer, she developed a technique of hand-painting on lace, and designs lace accessories for bridal and formal occasions. Her “wedding wristlets” through Mindy Joy Designs, are a great way for brides and their bridal party to carry their personal items at the wedding. During the onset of Covid in 2020, she made (and sold) 400 face masks! Recently, Mindy added Certified Health Coach to her resume, to broaden her offerings to include guidance on nutrition and wellness. Mindy is active in her community. She just completed two years as the Regional Director of Fashion Group International in Philadelphia and is a current Board member of the Philadelphia Fashion Incubator.
